about surcari

Surcari (a combination of two words: Suramérica and Caribbean) is an award-winning performance group originally from Chile, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico under the musical direction of award-winning guitarist Lorena Garay. The versatile members of Surcari perform an irresistible mix of instrumental and vocal music from different Spanish speaking countries on a wide array of traditional instruments. Surcari's extensive repertoire is drawn from the group's artistic influences, which include folk/traditional, Latin, classical, jazz, and flamenco. Their multicultural performances engage audiences of all ages as they are taken on an enchanting journey through the music of the Andes, the Spanish Caribbean, South America, Spain, and Mexico.

about the members

All three members of Surcari are talented and gifted musicians who have performed for audiences in the United States, South America, and Europe. Lorena Garay’s arrangements and passionate playing style beautifully blend the classical influence with her Latin sound. Eugenio Huanca’s intense way of playing the panpipes, the pan flute, and other Latin American instruments is just mesmerizing. Edilio Bermudez’s command of the violin and the electric bass is truly captivating. Audiences are impressed by their joyful yet intense way of playing.
